Fill out the appropriate application forms, gather the required documents, and prepare a portfolio of architectural experience and professional works that demonstrates requirements of education, experience and examination as outlined. Submit your application package and required fees to the AIBC. Completed applications are then referred to the Qualifications Committee for review and recommendation. A committee member will review your file in detail in order to assess whether or not you are eligible for consideration as an Alternatively Qualified candidate. A recommendation is then prepared for the committee’s consideration.
If the Qualifications Committee decides your application should proceed, you will be contacted and instructed to prepare for an Oral Assessment. You should continue to work on your portfolio to more fully prepare for the Oral Assessment. Your assessor will be able to tell you what additional information your portfolio might require. Remember that your portfolio is the means by which you can demonstrate equivalencies for “the three Es” – education, experience and examination. For more information about “the three Es”, click here.
