The Architectural and Building Engineering Technology Part Time Studies Department requires an Instructor to work teaching evening class at the Burnaby campus. The courses to be taught are BLDC 2200 Construction 2A and BLDC 2205 Construction 2B. The successful candidate must possess broad practical experience within the building design and construction industry with a focus in the design development and working drawing production of single-family wood framed houses.

As the Instructor you will play the rewarding role of being the primary teaching professional in the classroom. You will be responsible for course preparation and delivery, typically a combination of lectures and applied lab assignments. Most importantly, you will work directly with students in the classroom to support their learning, often by giving them practical assistance in their academic work. Existing course materials will be made available for your reference.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years current and applied experience in the North American building construction industry; local Canadian experience is an asset
  • Relevant degree with eligibility for registration with a professional architectural or engineering association
  • Minimum five years current relevant experience in architectural design development and contract documentation of single-family houses
  • Working knowledge of and practical experience using BC Building Code Part 9, latest edition, and local municipal zoning bylaws
  • Working knowledge of and practical experience in building materials and methods of construction, building envelope assemblies, construction details associated wood frame buildings
  • Excellent communication skills

Marketing Assistant Job Opportunity

Hughes Condon Marler Architects (HCMA) is seeking a Marketing Assistant to work with the Director of Marketing Communications and to provide assistance to the Partners with general marketing duties.

The successful candidate will have the following experience and strengths:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role
  • A good team member
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive in approaching tasks
  • Ability to multi-task and perform time sensitive tasks
  • Excellent computer skills (Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Preparation of proposals, and marketing documents
  • Ability to manage web site, via content manager, and social networking tools
  • Coordinating with outside consultants, agencies and publishers
