Intern Work Experience

Work Experience Requirements

The purpose of the work experience requirements is to ensure that the Intern is provided with sufficient experience to meet the standards of practical skill and level of competence required to engage in the practice of architecture. Intern Architects are required to obtain a minimum of 5600 hours of work experience, documented in the Canadian Experience Record Book (CERB) and in accordance with the IAP Manual. This form needs to be completed, dated by yourself and signed, sealed and dated by your Employer and signed and dated by your Mentor. You must also have your Mentor supply a Mentor comment review form with each experience submission. Please also review the British Columbia requirements as set out in Appendix B, for more information about submitting retroactive experience, experience as an internationally qualified architect, undergraduate experience, local and current experience requirements, and for information about deadlines for submissions and late fees.

Please read all instructions on the CERB form carefully. Ensure all pages are initialed by your employer. Make sure they are signed and dated properly. It takes approximately 4 months to process your CERB.
