January 2008

AIBC Council passes motions to formally create Associate Member categories for Building Designers and Interior Designers, as well as to recognize each through representation as non-voting members on AIBC Council.

AIBC Council hosts an open information session for members as well as those in the broader design community.

March 2008

The provincial government introduces Bill 10, which includes changes to the Architects Act such as provisions that allow the AIBC to establish areas of specialization.

Vancouver Sun article on expanded AIBC membership and proposed new legislation.

AIBC begins accepting applications from building designers and residential designers to transfer membership from BDIBC to the AIBC.

A welcome letter is sent to all new BD / RD registrants.
The AIBC takes steps to reserve the titles Architect.AIBC, Architectural Technologist.AIBC, Building Designer.AIBC, Residential Designer. AIBC and Interior Designer.AIBC (as well as their related designations) under Canadian trademark legislation.
